The 2024 of New Interplanetary Melodies begins with a new album and an EP signed by ABYSSY, the historical producer from
Bologna who returns to Simona Faraone’s label after a few years since the release of his previous works, Magnetic Archive (NIM001,
2016) under his alias Soulomon, and TWO Scorpions EP (NIM002, 2017) under the name ABYSSY, which marked NIM’s adventure in
the world of contemporary Italian independent record labels.
ABYSSY is the musical project that combines the Italian producer’s previous experiences with his entire world of musical influences: from
the proto-techno of Electrifying Mojo to the heart of Detroit techno and Chicago house, from the minimalism of Philip Glass to the sound
of the Berlin School of the ‘70s, embracing electro, the heavy use of synthesizers from the minimal wave, and the science-fiction lesson
of Kraftwerk. All of this encompasses the territories of ‘70s and ‘80s NY black music, drawing from funk, disco, boogie, seminal hip-hop,
and breaks. It’s a flow of eclecticism and hybrid energies that we also find in his latest works, EXTRA META LP + EXTRA META EP, an
album and an EP that are intrinsically connected to each other and have multiple shades.
The album starts with the ecstatic Samba Temperado (A1), which takes us back to the glory days of German Kraut while Mars Trax
(A2), Acid Rio (A3), and Quantuum (A4) catapult us into the depths of refined and twisted Detroit Techno.
The B side opens with the beautiful Vectrex (B1), a track with a New York’s Disco Not Disco flavour, followed by the electric house
music of Mixed Feeling (B2), a true gem for enthusiasts of more outsider sounds. With Italodoppler (B3), the arrangements become
decidedly more ‘80s and sugary but have a sure grip on the most demanding dancefloors. We could consider ourselves satisfied, but
ABYSSY and NIM also offer us two bonus tracks (only in digital format) that further enrich the spectrum of sounds presented in EXTRA
META LP: the swirling ambient of Supernova (DGTL1) and the carefree proto-house extravaganza of Ordnateur Numerique (DGTL2).

unknown of the human spirit, as the deep darkness of the ocean intertwines with the unfathomable darkness of space. An invitation to
explore new sound boundaries, to let yourself be lulled by waves that repeat without ever repeating themselves and to immerse yourself
in the reflective mystery of discovery and of evolution, a dance in darkness and light, and where the abyss of emotion merges with the
infinity of imagination: ABYSSY.”
